Applied Technical Services' Failure Analysis Laboratory is a full service materials testing, analytical and component testing lab.

We have the capacity to investigate single components or entire system failures for root cause analysis and evaluate prevention plans.

Our failure analysis labs' vast capabilities provide support to numerous industries such as automotive; aerospace; consumer product; military; petrochemical; pipeline; nuclear; pulp and paper; and polymer and plastics.

ATS specializes in a broad assortment of materials, including aluminum, copper alloys, steel, stainless steel, super alloys, titanium, plastics, ceramics and glass. Our failure analysis lab routinely conducts root cause analysis of fractures, formability issues, corrosion and wear. Professional engineers and metallurgists perform a multitude of testing utilizing the latest technology and advancements in scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS/EDAX), visual examination, hardness testing, mechanical testing, chemical analysis, metallographic techniques and optical fractography.

All failure analysis lab testing is performed per industry standards; including ASTM E2332, Standard Practice for Investigation and Analysis of Physical Component Failures, and applicable specialized procedures.
