Past Year

Here are a few other things that have been happening at ATS this year:

A2La 2014

Applied Technical Services Marietta facility recently underwent its A2LA assessment in 2014 for the areas of Materials Testing, Chemistry Testing, Non Destructive Testing and Calibration Services. The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) is a nonprofit, non-governmental, public service, membership society.  A2LA provides comprehensive services in laboratory accreditation and laboratory-related training.   Laboratory accreditation is based on internationally accepted criteria for competence (ISO/IEC 17025:2005).  Additionally the Memphis Calibration Laboratory has participated in its A2LA assessment as well and received its certification.

2014 PowerGen International
ATS recently exhibited at the world's largest power generation event, PowerGen International, in Orlando, FL. The event took place December 9-11 and was attended by over 22,000 power professionals and 1,500 exhibitors. The power industry is a segment that ATS serves at large. The key services we marketed include NDT, Materials Testing, Chemical Analysis, Metallurgical & Failure Analysis, Environmental Simulation, and Calibration.

Improved Chemistry Capabilities - NEW GC/MS/MS

Looking for that "needle in the haystack" in your sample where the needle is your compound of interest? The ATS Chemistry department has added a new analytical capability with the addition of a Shimadzu GCMS-TQ8030 Triple Quadrupole Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer. This unit will allow for lower detection limits on a variety of organic compounds. Commonly referred to as "GC Triple Quad," this instrument complements our other GCMS and LC-MS/MS units by: (Read More)
NDT LIXI & OpenVision™
Corrosion under insulation (CUI) is a major industry problem. In May 2014, American Petroleum Institute (API) released a new Recommended Practice 583 to address the issue and to understand the complexity of CUI. ATS has two new inspection tools to combat this issue, a radiometric profiler from LIXI and an OpenVision™ Model OVCF-NDT-70. (Read More)

Rope Access Expands In 2014
Rope Access has expanded rapidly in recent years with little grey area in-between those who embrace rope access contracts and those who remain skeptical. In giving rope access seminars nationally; one common response resonates clear, "rappelling is a hobby and is dangerous." Typically the table below provided by the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) is enough for an open minded discussion. (Read More)

IT Annual Infrastructure Planning

Chances are your Information Technology team is working to handle the demands of your growing business. Expanded Capability in ATS Fatigue Lab
The ATS fatigue lab has purchased new load frames and now has the capability to cyclically test samples at loads as small as 30 lbs. up to 55,000 lbs. Testing is done at a wide range of frequencies. The load frames range from 5.5 Kip to 55 Kip for a total of 6 servo hydraulic test frames. We are capable of testing fracture toughness and fatigue samples from -40 C to 1000 C to most ASTM specifications. Two of the newly purchased load frames have a t-slot table base for specialized testing and easy fixturing for product testing. Additionally, the lab has also (Read More)

Karl Fischer Unit
At Applied Technical Services we have acquired a state of the art Karl Fischer unit capable of volumetric and coulometric titration which offers a detection limit of 5ppm 5 g. Our system also utilizes a specialized oven attachment which allows analysis of moisture in solid samples by vaporization of the moisture. Our Karl Fischer is able to provide moisture measurements in terms of % moisture, parts per million (PPM), and micrograms (g) of water. (Read More)

New Shaker System

The ATS Vibration Lab now operates a 3rd electrodynamic shaker table. This new shaker has a force rating of 10,000 lbf, an armature diameter of 24" and is coupled with a slip table of 48"x48". Slip tables have the advantage of allowing the testing of a product on all 3 mutually perpendicular directions while keeping the product in the same orientation relative to gravity. (Read More)
New Cyclic Corrosion Chamber
The ATS Corrosion Lab has a new cyclic corrosion test cabinet (CCT-NC) designed to meet most automotive cyclic specifications for cyclic salt fog, drying, and humidity test (such as CCT I, II, IV), as well as other cyclic tests like the Ford CETP L467, GMW14872/GM9540P, Honda CCTA, Toyota SH 1555G Method C and the SAE J2334. This chamber also meets ASTM B117 Salt Mist and the ASTM D1735 for Humidity. (Read More)
