In June of 2017, the ATS Materials Test Laboratory (MTL) achieved National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap) accreditation. The MTL, consisting of chemical, environmental, mechanical, metallurgical analysis and test specimen machining, successfully met the requirements of a comprehensive and demanding process capability assessment conducted by the Performance Review Institute (PRI).
The arduous process of achieving Nadcap accreditation began nearly two years ago as the ATS MTL endeavored to review processes, procedures, and specifications for conformance to the Nadcap assessment checklists. By utilizing the Plan, Do, Check, Act process of implementing changes and monitoring the outcomes, the MTL was able to meet stringent industry and customer requirements.
Nadcap is an industry-managed approach to conformity assessment that brings together technical experts from both Industry and government to establish requirements for accreditation, accredit suppliers and define operational program requirements. Nadcap accreditation is one of the ways in which the aerospace industry identifies those who excel at providing quality products through superior special processes.
