ATS Strengthens Its Aviation Roots

ATS has original roots in the aviation industry, our founders worked for Lockheed Martin, an aerospace company located in Marietta, GA.  Since our founding in 1967 we have increasingly performed a wide array of testing related to airplanes.

The ATS NDT group has performed testing on many different aerospace components both in the lab and “on wing” for many years. ATS has two locations that hold FAA Repair Station certificates allowing for qualified ATS employees to perform testing on aircraft components and release the aircraft back to operation.

Over the past few years ATS has put an emphasis on growing our operations in the aerospace sector. Our Marietta, GA lab has expanded capabilities and sales efforts in manufacturing facilities that supply components for air and space travel.  Our team of qualified experts have been performing wing turbine inspections in South America for over 18 months and we are expanding this work into Japan in early 2020.

In 2019 ATS acquired Aviation Technical Testing, LLC (AvTech) based in Minneapolis, MN.  AvTech is managed by Mr. Mike Fortman who has over 35 years of experience in the aerospace industry, working directly for a large airline before venturing out to start an NDT business.  AvTech has a strong focus on Maintenance and Repair Organizations (MROs) that help to maintain airplanes for private, commercial, and military use.  AvTech also holds an FAA Repair Station certificate.  The ATS and AvTech partnership will allow for greater synergy to provide testing and inspection to the aerospace industry.
