Introducing EMC/EMI Testing

Applied Technical Services offers a continually expanding range of testing and inspection services. One of our newest developments includes electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing. EMC/EMI testing allows us to assist avionics, military, and aircraft industries with product certification, design verification, and troubleshooting. We are preparing several tests within the MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, and RTCA DO-160 standards.
MIL-STD-461 establishes test procedures and EMI limits for military equipment. EMI refers to unwanted noise or signals that can interfere with other technologies or reveal a vehicle’s location. In 2021, ATS plans to offer the following MIL-STD-461 testing services:
MIL-STD-704 tests electric power quality standards for Department of Defense aircraft and is also suitable for commercial planes and other vehicle types. We plan to offer full-service MIL-STD-704 testing for 28VDC (LDC), 400Hz 115VAC one-phase (SAC), and 400Hz 115VAC three-phase (TAC).
RTCA DO-160 establishes guidelines for standardizing EMC testing methods and procedures. These guidelines help aerospace suppliers create products that can pass certification for multiple aircraft. We will test the following DO-160 sections:
With these tests, we can determine whether your product meets applicable specifications. ATS also plans to further expand our lab in 2022 with more equipment, allowing us to broaden our testing capacity to include tests such as DO-160 section 20 radiated and MIL-STD-461 RS101 and RS103 up to 18GHz and 200V/m.
