What is an Extensometer?

An extensometer is a piece of equipment used to measure the elongation of a sample material under stress. Our technicians analyze the data provided and plot it onto a stress-strain curve. This allows us to provide valuable material characteristics such as:

Additional Tensile Testing Capabilities

The tensile testing laboratory at Applied Technical Services offers a wide range of additional testing methods such as plastic, high-temperature, metals, and rubbers. Plastic tensile testing conducted at ATS labs is performed in compliance with ASTM D638. This standard by the American Society for Testing Materials covers nonreinforced plastic and reinforced plastic tensile testing. ASTM D638 analyzes the following material characteristics:
