NAS 410 Training

What is NAS 410?
National Aerospace Standard 410 is a standard of minimal requirements for certified NDT personnel. The Aerospace Industries Association establishes NDT standards to develop and improve industry standards.
The Importance of NAS 410 Training

Required Classroom Formal Training Hours
- Eddy Current Levels 1 and 2: 40 Hours
- Liquid Penetrant Levels 1 and 2: 16 Hours
- Magnetic Particle Level 1 and 2: 16 Hours
- Radiography Levels 1 and 2: 40 Hours
- Ultrasonic Levels 1 and 2: 40 Hours
Required On-The-Job Experience Hours
- Eddy Current Levels 1: 400 Hours
- Eddy Current Level 2: 1200 Hours
- Liquid Penetrant Level 1: 130 Hours
- Liquid Penetrant Level 2: 270 Hours
- Magnetic Particle Level 1: 130 Hours
- Magnetic Particle Level 2: 400 Hours
- Radiography Level 1: 400 Hours
- Radiography Level 2: 1200 Hours
- Ultrasonic Level 1: 400 Hours
- Ultrasonic Level 2: 1200 Hours
Levels of NDT Certification
Trainee –
Trainees work under the direct supervision of Level 2 and 3 technicians.
Level 1:
Level 1 personnel can follow written instructions, complete simple calibrations, and have basic skills.
Level 2:
Level 2 personnel can inspect, interpret, calibrate, and evaluate components without direct supervision.
Level 3:
Level 3 personnel have the qualifications of Levels 1and 2 but can also write and review procedures and oversee the NDT operation.
Personnel must pass general and written exams for Level 1 and 2 NDT certifications. NDT Level 3 personnel may be responsible for developing exam content. All NDT personnel must renew their status every five years through re-examination or showing proof of their satisfactory performance.
