NDT Training
Applied Technical Services offers NDT training courses where certified instructors deliver comprehensive lessons on various nondestructive testing methods. Many industries rely on NDT personnel for quality control and assurance, so ATS takes pride in our training services.
What is Nondestructive Testing?
Nondestructive testing evaluates the properties of a material without causing damage. These test methods offer convenient and often cost-effective testing for products and equipment. NDT is useful in all stages of production, but each method has its advantages in different situations.
NDT Instructors
ATS abides by the strict standards and practices of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). Our instructors are ASNT SNT TC-1A certified and provide training that prepares participants for work in the industry.
ASNT SNT TC-1A
ASNT developed SNT TC-1A as a recommended practice for NDT certification programs. The guidelines receive annual updates and undergo review periodically. Many companies require SNT TC-1A certification before employment, so NDT training is essential for aspiring personnel.
There are three levels of qualifications established in SNT TC-1A. The levels become increasingly complex, requiring more education, experience, and training.
Level 1:
Practitioners can perform:
- Specific calibrations
- Examinations
- Evaluations
Level 2:
Practitioners can:
- Calibrate equipment
- Assess inspection results in accordance with standards and codes
- Provide written instructions and training to Level 1 personnel
Level 3:
Practitioners can:
- Establish techniques
- Interpret code
- Create test methods
- Train Level 1 and Level 2 personnel
- Administer and grade exams
Recertification is required every five years for personnel at each level.

ATS offers training for various NDT methods, including:
Eddy Current Testing (ET)
- Induces electrical currents and magnetic fields to observe an electromagnetic response

Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Uses X-rays or gamma rays to evaluate the internal structure
