AWS D1.1 Testing
Applied Technical Services performs structural weld testing in accordance with the AWS D1.1 testing code/standard.
AWS D1.1: Structural Welding Code for Steel
Established by the American Welding Society, AWS D1.1 is the most commonly utilized structural welding code in the United States and throughout most of the world. This steel welding standard consists of nine different clauses that cover general code requirements, weld connection design, welding procedure specification (WPS) prequalification, qualification, fabrication, inspection, stud welding, strengthening and repairing existing structures, and tubular structures. The final clause contains six subsections that align with the rest of AWS D1.1 but are specific to tubular structures. ATS’ certified weld inspection experts (CWIs) perform a variety of weld testing services, including but not limited to:
- Welding Certification
- Weld Coupon Testing
- Welding Engineering
- Weld Failure Analysis
- Weld Inspections
- Pipeline Weld Inspections
ASTM and AWS Testing Standards
Applied Technical Services offers several different types of mechanical testing, materials testing, chemical analysis, and environmental testing performed in adherence with ASTM and AWS standards. Some of these services include:
- AWS D1.2: Structural Welding - Aluminum
- AWS D17.1: Aerospace Fusion Welding
- ASTM D3654: Tape Adhesion Testing
- ASTM D4332: Package and Container Testing
