Understanding ISO 16232 and VDA 19.1 Testing
The ISO 16232 and VDA 19.1 testing standards serve as guidelines that establish a uniform standard of cleanliness for automotive manufacturers and their suppliers. The International Organization of Standardization (ISO) and Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) have each developed comprehensive guides to establish standards of technical cleanliness. These standards evaluate the level of contamination in the various components of fluid systems and circuits. ISO 16232 and VDA 19 cleanliness tests consist of multiple steps, including:
