The ATS Family of Companies (FoC) offers on-site hardness tester calibrations to promptly restore NIST traceability without displacing your equipment. We use indirect verification per the applicable ASTM standard, such as:
- ASTM E18
- ASTM E384
- ASTM E10
Our Hardness Tester Calibrations
We are ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited to calibrate the following types of hardness testers:
- Rockwell Hardness Testers
- Microhardness Testers
- Knoop Testers
- Vickers Testers
- Brinell Hardness Testers
Rockwell
ATS calibrates Standard Rockwell Hardness Testers with C, B, and A scales. To certify your Standard Rockwell Hardness tester to the current revision of ASTM E18, you are required to have certified penetrators. If certified penetrators are not available, we can certify your tester to the previous revision. We offer NIST traceability on C scale hardness testers only.
We calibrate Superficial Rockwell Hardness Testers with 15, 30, 45 N and T Scales. To certify your Superficial Rockwell Hardness tester to the current revision of ASTM E18, you are required to have certified penetrators. If certified penetrators are not available, we can certify your tester to the previous revision. We offer NIST traceability on C scale superficial hardness testers only.
Also, ATS calibrates Twin Scale Hardness Testers with C, B, and A scales plus 15, 30, 45 N and T Scales. To certify your Superficial Rockwell Hardness tester to the current revision of ASTM E18, you are required to have certified penetrators. If certified penetrators are not available, we can certify your tester to the previous revision. We offer NIST traceability on C scale twin scale hardness testers only.
Microhardness
ATS calibrates Microhardness Testers using NVLAP-certified blocks. Our methods comply with the latest revisions of the ASTM E384 standard. ATS can calibrate both Knoop and Vickers Testers.
Brinell
ATS calibrates Brinell Hardness Testers (500, 1500, and 3,000 kg loads) using NVLAP-certified blocks. Our services comply with the latest revision of ASTM E10, which requires the tester to have carbide balls as indenters. We cannot calibrate a tester that only has steel ball indenters.
