Applied Technical Services offers extensive rope access classes for technicians of all experience levels seeking accreditation or reaccreditation. Rope access classes teach technicians how to safely work at great heights using rope systems and associated equipment. Rope access allows trained personnel to perform operations safely and efficiently in difficult-to-reach locations.
At ATS, our rope access classes teach technicians how to utilize a main line and safety line to effectively scale, descend, and move laterally on a rope access system. Rope access safely reduces company costs by reducing or eliminating the need for building structures such as scaffolding. Manifold applications benefit from professionals with rope access expertise, including:
- Instrument Installation
- Geological Surveying
- Concrete Repair
- Photography/Videography
- Preparing Surfaces
- Sealant Installation
- Painting
- Scaling/Anchoring Rocks
- Sandblasting
- Pressure Washing
- Movie/Theater Set Installation
- Façade Inspection
Getting Certified with Applied Technical Services
Students seeking rope access certification through Applied Technical Services will undergo training to work in compliance with the standards set by the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT). ATS offers five-day rope access classes, providing trainees with hands-on instruction that allows each student to develop the necessary rope access knowledge and skills. The first four days of rope access classes include instruction on equipment maintenance, knot tying, anchorage combination, and rescue protocol. On the final day, students will complete certification exams conducted by an independent proctor.
ATS rope access classes offer the following levels of SPRAT certification:
- Level I: Rope Access Worker: Qualification for entry-level technicians to conduct basic rope access operations under Level II or Level III supervision.
- Level II: Rope Access Lead Technician: Qualification to perform rope access functions, basic rope access system rescue, and safety evaluations of rope access operations under Level III supervision.
- Level III: Rope Access Supervisor: Qualification to assume command over a rope access work site, allowing the design and analysis of rope access systems and the directing/conducting of rope access system rescue operations.
ATS’ rope access classes also satisfy 10CFR P50 Appendix B (Quality Assurance Criteria for Nuclear Powerplants), 10CFR P21 (Reporting of Non-compliance), and ASME NQA-1 (Nuclear Quality Assurance Requirements).
