Reliable Performance in Changing Temperatures

The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies (ATS FoC) conducts data center thermal cycling testing to assess the performance of critical components, including power and cooling systems, during repeated temperature changes. This temperature testing process reduces failure risk, maximizes uptime, and supports long-term reliability in data center infrastructures.

Data center thermal cycling testing evaluates whether materials and systems can endure temperature fluctuations without degradation. Extreme temperature changes cause structures to expand and contract, which can impact electrical connections, IT equipment, structural supports, circuit boards, and building materials.

What Happens During Thermal Cycling Testing?

At ATS, our trained thermal cycling technicians expose data center components, materials, and equipment to temperatures ranging from -60°C to 170°C to simulate real-world conditions.

Our state-of-the-art thermal cycling lab has 14 thermal cycling chambers of various sizes to evaluate:

  • Humidity Reactions
  • Temperature Reactions
  • 7.5°C/Minute Ramp Rate
  • Resistance to Thermal Shock
  • Thermal Expansion Rates/Shifts
  • Thermal Coefficient Mismatch
  • Heat Aging
  • Cracking, Warping, and Fatigue

We perform thermal cycling testing in accordance with the relevant safety and compliance standards, including but not limited to: IEC 68-2-30, GM9505P2, PrV303, and BMW TS 308.
