The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies (FoC) offers condition assessment schemes that evaluate the structural condition of oil tankers.
What is a Condition Assessment Scheme?
A condition assessment scheme, or CAS, is a required statutory survey scheme. A CAS is specifically designed for Category 2 and Category 3 (non-double hull) oil tankers. The vessels must complete the survey scheme by 15 years of age or before their renewal survey. CAS must be completed in conjunction with the Enhanced Safety Program (ESP), which is a detailed safety guideline for shipping companies and vessel owners. CAS builds upon the ESP and contains additional requirements, such as:
- The survey must be planned 8 months before the survey’s commencement
- The flag administration must issue the five-year full term and review and observe the survey and reporting process
