Marine Vessels and the Importance of Inspection
The Applied Technical Services (ATS) Family of Companies provides an array of maritime services to help clients ensure the safety of their vessels.
Shipowners and operators rely on maritime services, which encompass the variety of inspections and ancillary capabilities necessary to keep a ship seaworthy. These assessments are crucial to a vessel’s structural integrity and regulatory compliance. Even typical usage and environmental stimuli within design specifications can cause watercraft to deteriorate over time. If left unattended, underlying problems can damage a ship, potentially jeopardizing the safety of those onboard or even leading to an accident. Identifying compromised areas and addressing them before they further impact the ship’s integrity reduces the risk of costly repairs and helps ensure the safety of crew and passengers.
Our Maritime Services Take You One Step Closer to Certainty
The ATS Family of Companies (FoC) helps clients verify the condition of their vessel through the following offerings:
- Hull Condition Surveys

Our maritime specialists have extensive experience in performing NDT inspections on many types of ships. These Level II- and Level III-certified technicians are qualified to perform several nondestructive methods when assessing client craft, including ultrasonic testing, visual testing, magnetic particle testing, leak testing, liquid penetrant testing, and radiography testing. We also leverage our special access resources — namely SPRAT-certified rope access personnel, FAA-licensed drone pilots, and additional remote visual inspection equipment — to ensure our inspectors can check even the difficult-to-reach parts of a vessel.
