Often times an investigator returns from a site inspection with components or evidence which requires additional testing or analysis to arrive at a conclusion. Our Chemistry Labs are equipped to assist the Forensic Investigators in Chemical Analysis of metals, plastics, liquids, gases and fire debris.
Capabilities
ATS has inspected and investigated damaged property and failed structures ranging from: flood damage, water infiltration, roof/hail damage, roof collapses, and fire affected structures, sprinkler systems, piping systems, boiler and pressure systems, crane systems, concrete structures. Besides causation investigations we also research code compliance issues.
Some of the capabilites of our chemistry labs include:
- Alloy Identification — Steels, Aluminum, Copper, Nickel, Zinc Titanium & Cobalt Alloys
- Lead Analysis of Toys, Ceramics, and Dinnerware
- Metals Analysis of Consumer Products
- Positive Material Identification (PMI) On-site
- Identification of contaminants in plastic
- Analysis of metal chips, filings, etc.
- Determination of oil contamination
- Cleanliness testing for oxygen service equipment
- Automotive component cleanliness testing
- Analysis of hydraulic oils and lubricants
- Particle size determination of fine particles
- Paint bonding failure
- Printed circuit board cleanliness testing
