Intergranular Corrosion Tests

We, at Applied Technical Services, offer intergranular corrosion testing to ensure the structural integrity of the tested metal remains satisfactory during the service life of metals and alloys.

The chemical composition of common metallurgical materials includes nitrides, carbides, and intermetallic phases that are prone to precipitation through exposure to different thermal environments. Evaluating the susceptibility of this precipitation to corrosion attack is necessary, as this allows prevention of decay effects.

Testing Capabilities

Our Metallurgy and Failure Analysis Lab at ATS follows the ASTM A262 and G28 industry standards for Detecting Susceptibility to Intergranular Attack in Austenitic Stainless Steels and Wrought, Nickel-Rich, Chromium-Bearing Alloys. These ASTM standards define methods developed by industry experts to achieve consistent Intergranular Corrosion Testing results. We also offer Nadcap accredited services for evaluating intergranular corrosion attack and oxidation (IGA/IGO).

Our experts at ATS are adept in investigating the corrosion of alloys and metals. Our failure analysis lab is equipped with innovative technology utilizing analytical and component testing to gather valuable insight into the causes of corrosion.
