Origin and Importance of Mil Spec Testing
As one could imagine, products used by our US Defense Branches/Sectors may undergo high levels of physical stress and environmental exposures while in use. To ensure our defense team has reliable resources, the US Department of Defense standardized processes and materials used in manufacturing of high quality products. Because these standards are so thorough, many non-defense entities, technical organization and industries have adopted these regulations as their own. To serve those companies that want to test components and/or materials for physical characteristics and operational durability according to military requirements, Applied Technical Services performs a variety of Mil Spec Testing methods to their relevant standards.
Our Lab's Capabilities
ATS has multiple departments that perform Mil Spec testing, inspections, and equipment calibrations. Our materials testing, environmental testing, nondestructive testing, and calibration labs are managed by experts who frequently test and calibrate to the United States Military Standards (MIL-STD). We have outlined each lab/department and the most frequently requested specifications below:
- 248D — Weld and Brazing Procedure and Performance Qualification
- ISO 17025 (A2LA) Accredited
- 1595A — Qualification of Aircraft, Missile, and Aerospace Fusion Welders
- ISO 17025 (A2LA) Accredited
- 2219 — Fusion Welding Aerospace Applications
