Applied Technical Services’ metrology department provides 3D reverse engineering utilizing state-of-the-art technology. Our technicians proudly use a FARO Quantum Max laser line probe to conduct highly accurate 3D part scanning. Accurate scanning is quintessential to reverse engineering to guarantee precise measurements. Additionally, ATS technicians can provide on-site scanning services thanks to our portable CMM FARO arm.
Our Scanning Services
The ATS metrology team conducts on-site 3D reverse engineering regularly with the use of a FARO Quantum Max scanner. The FARO arm is the latest piece of scanning technology produced by FARO and boasts highly accurate and rapid scanning. The scanner is easily portable making on-site scanning and inspections simple. It comes equipped with multiple interchangeable laser line probes (LLPs) that provide versatile scanning abilities. The FARO arm scans large and cumbersome parts as well as small and intricate parts with ease. In addition to our FARO arm, the ATS metrology lab contains several large CT scanning machines to further assist clients in providing 3D reverse engineering. The machines our technicians use regularly are:
- Northstar Imaging X5000
- Multi-Axis Manipulator (rotation, tilt, x, z), 250 lb maximum
- Spiral acquisition scanning for subjects unable to fit within a single exposure
- The manipulator angle’s resolution is 0.001°
- Minifocus 450kV X-ray projector (0.016” Focal spot at 3mA)
- Dual-energy capacity with Microfocus 225kV X-ray Machine
- Capable of focal size as low as 0.0002” (based on voltage)
- Multi-Axis Manipulator (rotation, tilt, x, z), 250 lb maximum
- Zeiss Metrotom 1500, with a 225kV micro-focus
- Chamber fits samples up to 11.75 in (300mm) in diameter x 23.6 in (600mm) high. 50 kg (110 lb) weight limit.
- Annual A2LA calibration
- Certified accuracy within 4.5 microns
