PFAS Phaseout Guidance Published by AFIRM Group

The AFIRM Group focuses on chemical management in textiles such as footwear, apparel, and accessories. AFIRM Group has recently published a document to assist supply chains is phasing out the use of PFAS in textile items such as clothing, shoes, and accessories.

The guideline includes PFAS test plan suggestions. The PFAS testing plan recommended by the AFIRM Group is as follows:

  1. Method 1: test for total fluorine content analysis (if above 100 ppm move to method 2).
  2. Method 2: organic solvent extraction for specific PFAS compounds
