Q1 2024 Prop 65 settlements and judgements included several types of products that contained banned chemicals.
Product Types
29% of the settlements and judgements made during the first quarter of 2024 applied to products and goods in the food and dietary supplements category, while 17% applied to bags, kits, cases, totes, backpacks, and pouches.
Chemicals
The most commonly named chemicals in settlements and judgements were metals, accounting for a total of 49% of the settlements and judgements made during the quarter. 130 of these settlements/judgements were for lead, 6 included two or more metals, 4 were for mercury, and 2 were for cadmium. 34% of Q1 2024 settlements/judgements pertained to phthalates. Of these, 77 were for DEHP, 7 were for DINP, 4 were for multiple phthalates, 3 were for DIDP, and 3 were for DBP. There was one PFAS PFOA settlement/judgement for cooling hats and another for seat pads.
