The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies (FoC) evaluates military ground vehicle equipment in compliance with the MIL-STD-1275 testing standard. Military operations require extreme precision and planning, and these operations are heavily supported by advanced equipment and electronics. These instruments and electronics, including their power supplies, must undergo rigorous testing to verify their functionality and reliability in different situations and environments. The ATS FoC is a trusted provider of MIL-STD testing services, ensuring that your equipment can endure the stresses it may experience in real-world situations.
What is MIL-STD-1275?
MIL-STD 1275 ensures that the electronic instruments connected to the 28 VDC electrical power system in ground military vehicles can withstand specific electromagnetic environmental conditions. Developed by the US Department of Defense (DOD), the MIL-STD-1275 standard outlines a series of test conditions that can be applied to a 28V electrical system to determine its ability to withstand the stresses it may experience during use in military situations. The test conditions include voltage dips, surges, spikes, voltage ripple, and reverse polarity events. The MIL-STD-1275 testing standard consists of the following testing requirements:
Steady-State Operation
Equipment must function as expected with input voltages as high as 33VDC, including ripple.
Starting Operation
Equipment must function properly during engine start-up disturbances.
Transient Disturbances
Equipment maintains normal functionality during voltage spikes (250V), surges(~100V), and reverse polarity (33V in reverse).
