ATS Resident NDT/Inspection Team Celebrates 13 Years of Excellence and Multiple SABIC Safety Awards

[MARIETTA, GA] — [11/20/2025] — Applied Technical Services (ATS) is proud to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of its Resident NDT/Inspection team supporting SABIC—BURKVILLE, Ala.—one of the world’s leading petrochemical manufacturers. For 13 consecutive years, the ATS team has delivered high-quality onsite inspection services, earning multiple annual SABIC Safety Excellence Awards. These ongoing achievements highlight their unwavering commitment to safety, reliability, and performance. 

Since establishing a permanent presence at the SABIC facility in 2012, the ATS resident team has played a critical role in maintaining the integrity and reliability of plant operations. Their work spans a full suite of nondestructive testing and inspection services, supporting SABIC’s ongoing efforts to achieve zero-incident performance and ensure uninterrupted production. 

“The culture is safety above all,” said Austin Barfoot, ATS Project Manager. “The bar is always being set a little higher, and our team understands that our work directly impacts the safety of the plant and everyone in it.” 

In addition to their ability to adapt to changing industry standards and a shared commitment to the site’s performance, the team has supported plant operations by creating a culture of trust and respect that strengthens their credibility on site. ATS inspectors have completed major turnarounds and long-term reliability programs—all while maintaining an exceptional safety record recognized annually by SABIC leadership, with only one first-aid incident in 13 years. 

“Our relationship has grown stronger over the years because ATS consistently goes the extra mile to support the plants—even nights and weekends,” said Mike Stockman, Inspection Engineer at SABIC.

Stockman says that ATS has embraced multiple changes and challenges over the years. “Under the remarkable leadership of Austin Barfoot, the team has adapted and risen to the challenge of each new requirement, whether it be a program, initiative, policy change, or the adoption of different techniques and methods.” He explains that the success of this partnership is attributed to the people at ATS, who consistently demonstrate a “Ready-To-Serve” mentality. 

The ATS Resident NDT/Inspection team is celebrated not only for their safety achievements but also for the impact they have made on operational reliability. Through diligent inspections, data-driven assessments, and consistent collaboration with SABIC engineering teams, the ATS group has helped reduce unplanned downtime, extend asset life, and enhance overall plant safety.
