What is a CMM Machine, and Why are They Needed?

A coordinate measuring machine, or CMM, uses a motion system, probing system, and computer software to provide accurate readings of an object’s physical and geometric dimensions. CMMs limit the industry-wide dependence on manual inspections, improving inspection services’ accuracy, efficiency, and service time.

About Our Dimensional Inspections Lab

Our state-of-the-art dimensional inspection lab contains three high-powered CMMs that allow us to analyze objects of various shapes and sizes. Our FARO Quantum Max laser line scanner, is a top-of-the-line instrument that produces an object’s 3D image, allowing our specialists to test the object’s dimensions to our client’s specifications. Our FARO laser scanner features a FARO Quantum Series arm that allows our engineers to choose between three performance modes. In addition to our FARO Quantum Max scanner, we use a North Star Imaging X5000 and Zeiss Metrotom 1500. Each instrument captures high-resolution scans of objects of various shapes and sizes.
