The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies (ATS FoC) conducts vibration tests in accordance with MIL-STD-810 vibration testing procedures. Manufacturers and contractors providing products and services for the United States Department of Defense and its military operations must comply with rigorous military standards. These testing standards subject products and materials to harsh conditions, confirming their suitability for use in specific environments and high-stakes situations. Our environmental testing lab is well-equipped to conduct a wide range of tests in accordance with the procedures outlined in MIL-STD-810.
What is MIL STD 810?
MIL STD 810 is a prominent and widely used MIL-SPEC standard that evaluates the performance, durability, and reliability of military equipment, specifically equipment used in ground and aerospace military operations. The MIL STD 810 standard is comprehensive, featuring guidelines and procedures for over two dozen types of tests, including:
- Method 500.5 – Altitude or Low pressure
- Method 505.5 – Solar Radiation
- Method 507.5 – Humidity
- Method 509.5 – Salt Spray
- Method 514.6 – Vibration
More About MIL STD 810 Vibration Testing
MIL-STD-810 establishes the requirements for multiple types of vibration tests, ensuring that products can withstand the vibrations they may experience throughout their service life. The standard includes multiple vibration tests, each with its focus on specific vibration conditions.
Procedure One: General Vibration
Confirms a sample’s ability to withstand the vibrations experienced as secured cargo or while deployed in a moving vehicle
Procedure Two: Loose Cargo Transportation
Evaluates how loose cargo responds to the vibrations experienced while traveling in vehicles and trailers
Procedure Three: Large Assembly Transportation
Simulates the vibrations experienced by large assemblies of materials installed on vehicles or being transported by tracked or wheeled vehicles
Procedure Four: Assembled Aircraft Store Captive Carriage and Free Flight
Applies to free flight portions and fixed wing aircraft carriage
