About Sound Level Meters / Calibrators
Applied Technical Services offers sound level meter calibration services for a variety of manufacturers and industries. Sound level meters (SLM) are usually hand-held instruments and use a microphone to provide a read-out of changes in air pressure caused by sound waves. These meters verify sound levels to protect the hearing of worksite personnel, meet government requirements, monitor environmental conditions, and more. Sound level meter calibrators are used to field check and calibrate SLM before each use and provide confidence in measurements taken by the meter.
Unfortunately, an inaccurate sound level meter calibrator can compromise such data. To avoid this issue, companies can rely on calibration labs like ATS to perform a calibration on their SLM and SLM calibrators. Typically, an annual calibration is recommended for both.
