Applied Technical Services offers Ford VOC testing. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are present in natural and synthetic materials. VOCs not only exist in liquids and solids but in vapors as well. Because VOCs are airborne, manufacturers must protect their end-users by considering the potential for human exposure. Clients, especially in the automotive industry, need to know the composition of VOCs in their materials to ensure user safety.

Why is VOC Testing Important?

Research shows that VOCs can have a negative impact on the environment and human health. There are even studies that reveal volatile organic compounds can lead to different types of respiratory illnesses and cancers, which has led to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Ford to enact quality standards that affect the materials they use to build their vehicles. VOCs can be emitted from materials used in the interior of automotive vehicles, such as dashboard trims and fabrics.
