VOC – VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS

What’s that smell? Is it safe? Do I meet regulatory compliance?

These common concerns lead clients to request VOC testing. VOCs (or Volatile Organic Compounds) are typically compounds that have such a low boiling point that they emit at room temperature. VOCs include a wide range of compounds whose volatility depends on their composition. Some VOCs are harmful and some are not, but most are only harmful at high levels.

VOCs include both human-made and naturally occurring chemical compounds. Most scents or odors are VOCs. Some VOCs are dangerous to human health or cause harm to the environment and are therefore regulated by governing bodies like the EPA. The testing methods for VOCs vary widely, depending on the sample or the application. Here at ATS we offer an expansive array of VOC testing methods to assist you with your analysis needs.

If you need assistance in determining the best fit for handling all of your VOC testing needs please don’t hesitate to contact us today for more information.
