What is a Coordinate Measuring Machine?
Coordinate measuring machines, or CMMs, measure the geometry of three-dimensional objects. The machine consists of a recording system, a computer, and a probe that contacts various points of the object during measurement. As the CMM measures the material, it specifies the probe’s position in X, Y, and Z coordinates that are used to generate a real-time 3D model of the material.
