About NYC Facade Requirements
New York City has implemented the Façade Safety and Inspection Program (FISP), mandating that property owners of buildings taller than six stories submit a technical façade report every five years. Technical reports specify facades and their various elements as one of the following, safe, safe with repair and maintenance program (SWRAMP), or unsafe. A safe façade is functional and free of any issues or areas of concern. A SWRAMP façade is on the verge of being deemed unsafe if repairs aren’t made before the next evaluation cycle.
