The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies (FoC) offers sodium-ion battery testing services that determine the performance characteristics and overall safety of sodium ion batteries. In recent years, sodium ion batteries have emerged as an alternative to lithium-ion batteries as many manufacturers have begun to increase their use of sodium ion batteries. Our team of experts evaluates batteries and energy storage systems to ensure they’re able to perform as expected in different applications and environments.
More About Our Sodium-ion Battery Testing Lab
The ATS FoC’s battery testing lab is perfectly equipped to support manufacturers as they explore the potential uses and benefits of sodium ion batteries. Whether we’re evaluating batteries for consumer electronics, or electrical vehicles, our state-of-the-art lab is equipped with the resources needed to conduct comprehensive tests for competitive prices. We can test batteries in accordance with our clients’ unique testing needs, including the following types of tests:
- Low Temperature Tests (-65°C Chamber)
- Charging/Discharging test up to 5V, 1600A
- Negative Voltage Discharge Testing
We also offer services that comply with common regulations and guidelines, such as UN 38.3.
What is UN 38.3?
The United Nations developed UN 38.3 as a series of safety tests for batteries, including lithium ion and sodium ion batteries. The standard has numerous requirements for sodium ion batteries, which includes ensuring that the batteries pass the following tests:
- Altitude Simulation
- Thermal
- Vibration
- Shock External Short Circuit
- Impact / Crush
- Overcharge
UN 38.3 is specifically designed to ensure that batteries can endure the stresses they endure during transport, but we also offer other types of tests, including:
- UL 1642: Abnormal Charging
- UL 1642: External Short Circuit
- UL1973: Nail Penetration
- IEC 62133-2: Forced Discharge
