Walk-In Solar Testing Chamber
Sunlight Has It Out for Your Products
Applied Technical Services offers its capabilities as a solar testing lab to help clients assess their product’s resistance to radiation emitted from the sun. The solar spectrum of electromagnetic radiation includes visible light, infrared, and ultraviolet waves — extensive exposure to these three combined can cause a product’s colors to fade, as well as undermine various mechanical and electrical characteristics potentially integral to its functionality. Heat, the other weathering phenomenon associated with the sun, also ages materials prematurely, causing discolorations or texture changes or even structural warping. To ensure the longevity of their product’s service life, manufacturers and pages arts suppliers seek the expertise of solar testing labs like ATS, who can faithfully simulate years’ worth of sunlight damage in a matter of weeks.
What Sets Us Apart as a Solar Testing Lab
ATS’ solar simulation lab comes equipped with a fleet of testing chambers primed to test the various stimuli associated with solar radiation. Our crown jewel is the 10ftx10ftx8ft solar simulation chamber, capable of precisely reproducing a wide array of environmental conditions to accurately determine the sample product’s resistance to real service conditions. The size of this walk-in chamber allows it to accommodate large subassemblies or finished products like most passenger vehicles. Our technicians can apply temperatures between -40°C and 80°C, as well as relative humidity from 5% to 95%, as appropriate to relevant standards. ATS’ Marietta lab, wherein we perform all our solar testing services, maintains an ISO 17025 accreditation to perform this method to DIN 75220. Our technicians are also experienced with MBN 55555-5, MIL-STD 810H (Method 505.5), and VDA-219 — each of which we perform under the umbrella of our ISO 9001-certified quality management system.
About ATS
Since our founding in 1967, Applied Technical Services has maintained a core belief: that our clients deserve quality in every form that we can provide. The past five decades have seen our company grow tremendously — once a trio of engineers meeting the needs of local businesses from their shared office in our founder’s basement, ATS now represents a multidisciplinary services provider with a national presence and a client base spanning the world over. Although much has changed since our inception, our guiding principle of putting the client first has remained unshaken. We uphold stringent customer service protocols to ensure the best experience working with ATS because we understand that without them, we would not exist.
Products intended for outdoor service environments need a variety of weathering analyses, including solar testing, to validate their long-term functionality. If you’re getting it done, why not get it done in one place and performed by the best? Contact ATS for a free quote on our solar testing services today — We take a closer look!
