The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies performs comprehensive motor current analysis to monitor motor operating conditions to diagnose motor malfunction or failure and prevent damage.

Motor Current Signature Analysis

Motor current signature analysis consists of monitoring the electrical currents drawn by motors in a variety of commercial and industrial applications in order to detect and prevent faults. Current analysis can be performed without interrupting a motorโ€™s operation, allowing for the early detection of defects to minimize downtime and repair or replacement costs. Our specialized current analysis experts use current transducers to measure the electrical current flowing through a motor, collecting data for analysis. Once the motor current data is analyzed, our technicians document faults, patterns, and anomalies to identify motor issues such as phase imbalance, bearing wear, mechanical imbalance, overloading, electrical faults, and rotor bar damage. All findings are included in diagnostic reports, along with any recommended repairs. Current analysis allows clients to schedule predictive maintenance, improve motor efficiency, extend the lifespan of motors and equipment, and improve safety within their facility.
