The Applied Technical Services Family of Services (FoC) conducts PosiTector calibrations to verify the accuracy of coating thickness gauges. Our calibration experts value precision and professionalism, working diligently to improve the reliability of our clients’ PosiTector 6000 gauges.

What is the Deflesko PosiTector 6000?

The DeFelsko PosiTector 6000 is a rugged, fully electronic coating thickness gauge that uses eddy current and magnetic principles to measure the paint thickness of non-ferrous and ferrous metals. The PosiTector 6000 offers rapid measurements and can produce more than 90 readings per minute. The PosiTector 6000 provides quantitative data regarding the following:

  • Coating adhesion
  • Color consistency
  • Expected lifespan
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Resistance to corrosion and damage

Our Calibration Lab

Our calibration experts use our state-of-the-art laboratory to facilitate prompt and professional services at a competitive price. During our thickness gauge calibration process, we compare our clients’ instruments to a known standard, ensuring the gauges meet the manufacturer’s specifications. If the two values don’t match, we make the necessary adjustments to ensure that our client’s instruments achieve an adequate level of accuracy. Our PosiTector calibration services help our clients do the following:

  • Comply with regulations and standards
  • Improve the accuracy of measurements
  • Identify underlying issues with a gauge
  • Maintain NIST traceability
  • Sustain acceptable levels of quality control

Why is it Important to Calibrate Thickness Gauges?

Regular calibration is essential when maintaining a reliable thickness gauge. Our calibration helps our clients ensure their gauges maintain accuracy and traceability throughout their service life. Over time, gauges can develop a bias, leading to inaccuracies that compromise the gauge’s effectiveness. Failure to properly calibrate thickness gauges can lead to preventable issues such as:

  • Compliance issues
  • Product defects and safety hazards
  • Wasted resources
