UV Meter Calibration
Applied Technical Services performs UV meter calibration in our A2LA-accredited electronic calibration lab. Our experts draw on decades of professional experience to deliver high-quality services to clients in a variety of fields. We calibrate light meters that detect the illuminance of visible (white) light and the irradiance of invisible ultraviolet (black) light based on wavelength.
Why Calibrate Light Meters?
ATS provides UV meter calibrations to help clients maintain accurate readings after repeat use. Because the electronic components in UV meters may degrade or be damaged over time, a consistent calibration schedule helps experts uncover mechanical and material issues early. If our calibration experts detect a flaw or sign of damage in a UV meter, we can recommend the repairs needed to restore the device. Early detection and repair help limit measurement drift and inaccuracy.
Users need reliable measurements of ultraviolet waves to monitor quality and avoid safety concerns. Most ultraviolet waves are not visible to the human eye but have a variety of industrial uses. Blacklight or UV meters are used for processes such as:
- Curing inks and adhesives
- Sterilization/Germicide
- Quality assurance
- Forensics
- Security
- Engineering flaw detection
- Medical diagnostics
- Fluorescence
UV Meter Calibration Capabilities
ATS offers UV meter calibrations fully traceable to the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). We accept blacklight meters that measure long UV/A waves (315 to 400 nm) according to the ISO 21348 standard classification of ultraviolet light ranges.
We calibrate meters by comparing the client device with our calibrated radiometer standards as they measure the ultraviolet light emitted from a 365 nm light source. If a meter’s readings are outside the tolerances set by the original manufacturer or the client, an ATS technician can adjust the UV meter to restore its accuracy.
We calibrate meters capable of measuring between 0 and 3,000 microwatts per square centimeter (µw/cm2) with uncertainties as low as 4.5% of the reading. We work with devices from many manufacturers, including:
- ExTech
- UVP (Analytik Jena US)
- MagnaFlux
- Omega Engineering
Calibration Reports
Clients can review and download past certificates on iPortal, our secure calibration platform. We summarize our services with a virtual certificate of calibration that contains:
- NIST traceability and ISO/IEC 1725 standard
- As found and as left data
- Device condition
- Repairs and adjustments (if applicable)
Convenient Calibration Service
Calibrating with ATS is simple and convenient: submit a request form or call our main line to schedule a service, then ship the device to our lab for service. Our lab calibrations have a standard 7 to 10 business day turnaround time, but if you need your critical device calibrated sooner, sign up for expedited calibration to place your device next on the bench.
About ATS
Applied Technical Services continually expands our service capabilities in consulting engineering, calibrations, testing, and inspections to bring value to our clients in new and optimized ways. We share resources with a growing Family of Companies (FoC), a collection of professional firms in dozens of states. Our processes conform to ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 requirements for calibration laboratories and technology. Additionally, we satisfy the federal regulations outlined in 10 CFR Part 21 and 10 CFR 50 – Appendix B.
