gpr concrete scanning

Many companies need to rely on a thorough analysis of the conditions of various concrete slabs, beams, pillars, or walls before they can safely proceed with the cutting, coring, or grinding of such surfaces. Applied Technical Services’ nondestructive testing (NDT) division performs GPR Concrete Scanning services for clients seeking an efficient way to reduce potential work hazards and avoid costly construction project mistakes. A GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) system consists of a radio wave transmitter, a receiver, and a computer that can gather information on the condition of the scanned concrete. GPR scans are often used to detect embedded objects in concrete such as rebar and post tension cables. ATS works with contracting and coring professionals when objects are found in concrete structures, using collected data to determine the safest corrective action.

Testing Capabilities

The GPR Concrete Scanning method is performed by experienced NDT personnel who use up-to-date ground penetrating technology capable of detecting hidden metallic objects in concrete up to 18” thick*. Clients may request 3-D computer scans for formal reports and archiving.

*ATS also offers X-Ray Scanning (Concrete Radiography) for clients looking to inspect concrete structures for metallic and non-metallic objects. Our reliable technology can provide x-rays for clients looking to scan for, and identify, objects in concrete up to 24” thick.
