The Applied Technical Services (ATS) Family of Companies provides pressure calibration lab services to satisfy all our clients’ pressure calibration needs. Our calibration department offers quick turnarounds, comprehensive customer support, and in-depth reporting.
How Pressure Calibration Works
Pressurized equipment requires a pressure monitoring device, such as a sensor, to ensure it operates safely and efficiently. The closer the operational pressure is to the manufacturer’s recommended levels, the more efficiently the equipment will run. Correctly calibrating these monitoring devices requires comparing them against perfectly calibrated reference standards, each exposed to the same range of pressures. Ensuring the device under test (DUT) and the reference standard operate at the highest accuracy possible gives the most precise measurements.
Why Pressure Calibration Is Needed
Pressure calibration promotes safety and efficiency by matching pressure sensors’ readings against those of trusted standards. Calibrated pressure sensors prevent pressure from exceeding certain levels. If the sensors are inaccurate, excess pressure can cause damage or even catastrophic failure in the equipment. Furthermore, equipment runs at peak efficiency when its pressure outlets are at specific levels. The overall efficiency would drastically decrease if the equipment were to go past this level.
Pressure Calibration Lab Services at ATS
- Pressure Gauge Calibration
- A pressure gauge measures the fluid intensity present in pressure-powered machines.
- This device loses its accuracy as it drifts over time.
- Its calibration has a significant effect on the safety of a pressure-powered machine.
- Pressure Relief Valve Calibration
- A pressure relief valve is a safety precaution in most pressure-powered machines.
- It allows dangerous levels of pressure to exit by triggering a release at certain times.
- The calibration of this device is essential in verifying the accuracy of the output pressure.
- Pressure Transducer Calibration
- A pressure transducer converts pneumatic analog loop control signals into electrical loop analog control signals.
- Due to the harsh operating environments these machines are in, they are subject to shift and change over time.
- The performance of this device is critical to the process plant’s control systems.
Quality Standards
The ATS Family of Companies is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017, complying with stringent quality standards such as ISO 9001:2015, 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR Part 21, and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.
