RTCA DO-160 Section 20: Conducted Radio Frequency Susceptibility Testing
RTCA DO-160 Section 20 testing evaluates a piece of equipment’s ability to function properly when exposed to radio frequency (RF) modulated power. This RF power can come from radiated RF fields or injection probes coming into contact with wiring and power lines. There are two main Conducted Susceptibility Testing Lab – DO160 S20 testing procedures:
  • 10 kHz to 400 MHz: RF signals coupled via injection probes into cable bundles
  • 100 MHz to Upper Frequency Limit: Radiated RF field exposure for EUTs
RTCA DO-160 Section 20.5 Anechoic Chamber Method and Section 20.6 Reverberation Chamber Method cover radiated susceptibility testing from 100 MHz to 18 GHz, and equipment with unique frequency, bandpass, modulation, or signal characteristics may require other test variations. RTCA DO-160 Section 20 Radio Frequency Susceptibility Testing can be utilized to determine equipment response to T-PEDs, HIRF, and installed system emissions.

As an RTCA DO-160 testing provider, Applied Technical Services conducts several different types of testing in compliance with the standards set by the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics, or RTCA. This standard applies to aircraft of all sizes and includes supersonic transport aircraft, commercial airliners, helicopters, and general aviation aircraft. RTCA safety and reliability standard compliance is required by all aircraft and aviation part manufacturers.
