Temperature and Altitude Testing

RTCA DO-160 Section 4.0 testing is performed to ensure the proper functionality of equipment at the different temperatures and altitudes this equipment will be exposed to in standard operating environments. This applies to aircraft equipment in controlled temperature and pressurization environments, partially controlled temperature and pressurization environments, non-pressurized but controlled temperature environments, pressurized but uncontrolled temperature environments, and uncontrolled temperature and pressurization environments. Temperature testing includes ground survival low temperature testing, short-time operating low and high temperature testing, in-flight loss of cooling testing, decompression testing, overpressure testing, as well as additional testing procedures.
