ASTM F1378 Shoulder Prostheses Testing
The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies (FoC) conducts mechanical tests of shoulder prostheses in compliance with ASTM F1378 shoulder prostheses testing standards. Shoulder replacement surgery is a highly effective procedure where healthcare professionals replace damaged parts of the shoulder with shoulder prosthesis. What is ASTM F1378?
The American Society for Testing and Materials developed ASTM F1378 as a guideline for the design and functionality of modular shoulder prostheses. ASTM F1378 establishes specifications for total shoulder replacements (TSRs) to ensure the replacement provides sufficient support for the patient. TSRs must mimic the motions and functions of humeral and glenoid components while providing the coordination and mobility needed to improve the patient’s quality of life.
