The American Society for Testing and Materials established ASTM F2706 as a guideline for the testing methods used to quantify the dynamic and mechanical characteristics of occipital-cervical-thoracic and occipital-cervical spinal implant assemblies. Occipital-cervical-thoracic and occipital-cervical spinal implant assemblies provide stability to the spine during arthrodesis, where two or more joints are fused to eliminate arthritis-related pain.
