Automotive TL Testing
The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies performs a wide range of automotive TL testing to Volkswagen’s standards.
VW Automotive Testing Services
Volkswagen has its own set of testing standards known as TL (Technische Lieferbedingungen) standards. Automotive testing conducted to VW’s TL standards encompasses a wide range of evaluations and assessments to ensure that vehicles and their components meet the stringent quality and performance requirements set by the company. TL standards focus on durability, safety, performance, and reliability and require extensive testing of vehicle components to ensure they can withstand the stresses and strains of everyday use. Suspension systems, engines, transmissions, and electrical components undergo rigorous testing to assess their resistance to vibration, temperature variations, humidity, and corrosion. These tests help identify potential weaknesses or vulnerabilities in the components, enabling engineers to make design improvements and ensure long-lasting performance.
Crash testing is another vital aspect of automotive testing, and Volkswagen’s TL standards require vehicles to undergo comprehensive crash tests to assess occupant protection in different collision scenarios. These tests simulate frontal, side, and rear impacts, as well as pedestrian safety evaluations. By conducting these tests, VW ensures that its vehicles meet or exceed regulatory safety standards and provide optimal protection to occupants in the event of a collision.
TL automotive testing’s performance evaluations cover various vehicle systems and components. This includes testing the vehicle’s engine performance, emissions, braking system, steering system, suspension, and overall handling characteristics. Performance testing ensures that the vehicles deliver the expected levels of power, efficiency, and drivability, meeting Volkswagen’s requirements.
Automotive TL Testing at ATS
There are hundreds of TL standards, covering everything from the materials used in window trim to the performance of the braking system. Some of our most commonly requested Volkswagen testing services test to the following standards:
Automotive TL testing at ATS includes:
Physical Tests: These tests measure the physical properties of the materials, such as their strength, stiffness, and durability.
Chemical Tests: These tests identify the chemical composition of the materials and determine their compatibility with other materials.
Environmental Tests: These tests expose the materials to extreme environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, and UV radiation.
Performance Tests: These tests measure the performance of the materials, such as their ability to withstand impact or to conduct heat.
The results of these tests are used to determine whether or not the materials meet the requirements of the TL standards. Materials that do not meet the requirements will not be approved for use in Volkswagen vehicles.
