ATS offers a wide range of capabilities in our firearm testing laboratory. Our experts in the Forensics Analysis Division have established an exemplary reputation for accuracy and fact-finding through rigorous testing and evaluations. At Applied Technical Services, we can evaluate firearms to the 11 CCR § 4060 requirements to determine their conformance. ATS’ firearm and handgun testing capabilities include Forensic and Consulting Engineering, Metallurgy, Computed Tomography or CT X-Ray, Dimensional Testing, Chemical Analysis, Materials Testing, and Fire and Explosion Investigation services. Our experts have experience performing both the California Drop test requirements as well as the SAMI testing requirements.

ATS is a laboratory capable of performing the 11 CCR § 4060 Barclays Official California Code of Regulations testing requirements, in addition to many other specifications and requirements that apply to handguns. Our laboratory can also design customized testing specifications based on client needs.

Before any make and model can be considered for certification, all handguns must pass certain requirements per the 11 CCR § 4060. Some examples of the applicable tests that ATS performs include:

Firing Requirements for Handguns – the first test required to be performed by the 11 CCR § 4060 is the “firing requirement for handguns” test evaluation and inspection.
Drop Safety Requirement for Handguns – The last test required to be conducted according to the 11 CCR § 4060 is the “drop safety requirement for handguns” test evaluation and inspection.

Handgun Testing Evaluation

As an ISO 9001:2015 registered facility, Applied Technical Services can offer handgun testing to Mil-810G environmental exposure requirements.

Please note that there are many other provisions that a testing lab should follow per the Barclays Official California Code of Regulations 11 CA ADC § 4060. Applied Technical Services meets these requirements. Additionally, our facility can receive and ship firearms under federal law under the scope of our FFL License.
