The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies offers ASTM D5865 testing services that evaluate the chemical reactions of coke and coal. Coke and coal are both highly important fuel sources that are very important to the gas and manufacturing industries. Our chemistry lab evaluates coal and coke samples, ensuring that they’re in compliance with the specifications outlined in ASTM D5865.
What is ASTM D5865?
The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) developed ASTM D5865 to determine the gross caloric value of coke and coal. Technicians determine the sample’s gross caloric value using either an adiabatic bomb or isoperibol calorimeter and the results are represented using inch-pound and SI units. During the testing process, technicians completely combust the sample under controlled conditions to measure the amount of heat released during the combustion process.
Our ASTM D5865 Services
Our ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited chemistry testing lab offers comprehensive and ASTM 5865-compliant services. Our services offer an effective way for businesses to evaluate the energy content and fuel efficiency of their coal and coke which can aid in the following:
- Maintain and improve quality control
- Minimize unnecessary expenses
- Comply with regulatory requirements
