The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies (FoC) determines the mass and volumetric flow rates in ducts in accordance with ASTM E2029 testing standards. In certain cases, it can be too impractical or difficult to measure the velocity of ducts, pipes, and tunnels using conventional measurement methods, but the technique outlined in ASTM E2029 is an advantageous alternative.

What is ASTM E2029?

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) established ASTM E2029 as a standardized test method for using a tracer gas dilution to measure an air systemโ€™s volumetric and mass flow rates. During the testing process, a technician introduces a specific amount of a trace gas into the gas stream before measuring the concentration of the tracer gas at a later point in the gasโ€™s flow stream. Experts use their knowledge of gas behavior and principles of mass conservation to calcite mass and volumetric flow rate via the tracer gas dilution rate.

Our ASTM E2029 Testing Services

Our state-of-the-art lab offers ASTM E2029-compliant testing services that help clients make informed decisions regarding their operation and efficiency. We provide on-site testing services where our experts collect and analyze data before offering our clients a detailed report of our findings. Upon completion of our testing, our clients will have an improved understanding of their air systemโ€™s mass flow rate and volumetric flow rate, which can be essential when doing the following:

  • Optimizing the energy consumption of HVAC units used in industrial processes and settings
  • Evaluating a systemโ€™s emissions
  • Ensuring that gas controlling and monitoring systems function properly
  • Maintaining safe operating conditions and compliance with industry standards
