ASTM D3654: Adhesion Testing of Pressure-sensitive Tapes
ASTM D3654 (ASTM D3654M 06 2019) is a testing standard that establishes the methods for testing the ability of pressure-sensitive tape materials to adhere to surfaces such as steel panels, fiberboard packaging, corrugated boards, fiberboard, liner board, and additional types of surfaces while under pressure. This testing method may also be used to evaluate filament reinforced tape’s adhesive strength when under stress. ASTM D3654 also includes sections that pertain to methods of environmental testing, such as elevated temperature testing. This testing method is commonly used when testing adhesives utilized for packaging and shipping containers.
