ASTM D4541: Pull-Off Strength Testing for Coatings
ASTM D4541 (ASTM D4541-22) is a testing standard that details the test methods used to perform pull-off strength testing on coatings through use of portable adhesion testers. This standard establishes preparation, testing, evaluation, and reporting procedures for coating pull-off testing and covers aspects such as pull rate, coating scoring, load fixture size, glue and adhesive details, substrate coating cure time, and environmental conditions. ASTM D4541 testing is intended to be performed coatings adhered to metal substrates, though it can also apply to wood and plastic-based materials. ASTM D7234 must be utilized for concrete.
