The Applied Technical Services Family of Companies (FoC) conducts mobile bearing dislocation tests on mobile bearing knee designs in compliance with the ASTM F2724 testing standard.

What is ASTM F2724?

The American Society for Testing and Materials established ASTM F2724 as a standard test method for experts determining a mobile bearing knee design’s dislocation resistance. The standard’s objective is to assess a mobile bearing insert’s ability to avoid spit-out or spin-put caused by disassociation. During the testing process, technicians perform tests at four different flexion angles and determine whether each angle experienced spin-out or spit-out failure. This standard is an important resource for manufacturers seeking to compare the performance outcomes of various designs, enabling them to optimize their mobile bearing knee designs.
