CWI Inspection Companies

What are the Responsibilities of Certified Welding Inspectors?
Certified welding inspectors oversee multiple steps in the welding process to ensure that the practices are on par with manufacturer specifications, industry guidelines, and government regulations. The responsibilities of certified welding inspectors include:
- Ensure welding work complies with the employer, local, state, and federal safety regulations
- Review welding plans, procedures, equipment, and materials
- Help develop the welding procedure specification (WPS)
- Inspect the equipment and consumable materials
- Monitor the production process
- Inspect and identify the reason for repairs
- Supervise or conduct repairs
CWIs ensure that the weld’s appearance, quality, and performance are acceptable to specific standards. Poorly welded materials may suffer in their appearance, performance, and safety, so qualified inspectors are significant to the success of a welding project.
