ASTM D2794 Testing Explained
During the procedure, technicians apply organic coatings to a thin metal panel before placing the panel in the impact testing device. Next, technicians drop a standard weight from a specified height, causing an indention on the material’s surface. Technicians repeat the process until failure occurs, allowing experts to analyze any cracking, scratching, or indentations experienced during the procedure. Several factors contribute to the procedure’s results, including:
